What’s broken about developer hiring right now?

Recruiters are too focused on specifics… You can have 10 years working web development and built dozens of production ready applications, but in the interview they ask something like how do you center a div and if you don’t answer then you are out.
Lets be real… experience/knowledge/capabilities are not based on some random question.

There is a diff bw what we practice and what is asked.
Ex:we do work on latest tech but they want u to learn all the sql commands

I’m bleeding data. Every recruiter I let in, every application I submit. Everytime I need to give my phone numer, mail adress, etc. I want a job and not for the company to swing by for lunch.
I need to be very selective because of this and may be missing opportunities.

Not me personally, but I have heard that recruiters do not provide proper feedbacks to the candidates on the interview which leaves them dangling and completely oblivious on how they could improve themselves for the next interview. If only, there was a system of rubric where recruiters could fill out, submit and the system automatically sends the feedback to the candidates.

<li>Recruiters constantly follow up when next round is to be scheduled but completely ghost the candidates when the rounds are over. I have seen this for both positive and negative scenarios. They may want to prolong the decision making, or don’t want to reply about the rejection reason, or the position has been filled, reasons could be multiple but result is same.</li>
<li>Entire interview loop goes on for months, I have seen company interviewing for 5-6 months. Ideally the loop should be closed within weeks or don’t start it at all.</li>
<li>Almost all the companies follow the same interview rounds which become irrelevant and outdated with time. E.g. - Problem solving and data structures might make sense when hiring a fresher but doesn’t make sense for a Senior developer.</li>
<li>Evaluation criterias are completely subjective depending on the interviewer. So candidates have to wait for a lucky day to get selected even if they are fit for the role.</li>
