What is your struggle when learning Rust?

Hello ! I’m tan and actually I just want to start coding in rust ! I’m a bachelor student and my main programming language is Go so when I heard about rust it immediately intrigued me and i want to lean more about it 😄

My main issue is the different rules. Usually I am very good at picking up syntax and coding logic. But once impl’s got added to enums and structs, i started to get lost. Not to mention smart pointers and options.
It started to lost me, but i think it is because i may not fully understand the compiler/borrow checker. Any suggests would be great.

My main struggle is not having a concrete problem/objective. Without that I go through the motions of learning something new by following a tutorial and subsequently forgetting most of what I just learned.
I think what works best is to come up with a clear goal; “I want to build appplication X that does Y”. Then you’ll have something to work towards and use the knowledge you’re gaining by working through documentation/tutorials/how-to’s.
Rust is one of the languages I’d like to learn, but haven’t gotten far because of this.

I hate the build time… thats all
