What is your honest opinion about the Dart programming language?

I am very happy with Dart’s syntax. I wish other languages would adapt some of its concepts (like the constructors or required named arguments).
What’s missing for me is an official build system. Some way to ditch build_runner.

It’s cool but not so cool as Kotlin

I’ve been using Dart for 3 years now. Mostly in Flutter but I’ve worked on CLI libraries and web servers in the past.
I struggled with a few things, starting with Dart’s FFI with callback functions. (It is now doable: <a href="https://github.com/dart-lang/sdk/issues/37022" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">dart-lang/sdk#37022</a>). Idk it’s just me but every time I found a niche package on pub.dev I was devastated by learning it’s unmaintained and incompatible :((
Besides that, it’s easy to learn and you can do almost everything you want to do. You can have really small docker images with Dart.

I’m very happy with it. Non nullability, pattern matching and soon macros are really nice.
I also love the fact that you can step into dependencies while debugging which is much harder to do in TS.
