Flathub, the official Flatpak app store, is ranking highly on Google for adult content downloader searches due to a developer exploiting its reputation. A developer named Warlord Software published three downloader applications on Flathub and tagged them with NSFW keywords, leveraging Flathub's domain authority to gain over 250,000 downloads for proprietary apps with premium licenses. The developer's own website contains no mention of these keywords, revealing a deliberate SEO exploitation strategy that uses Flathub's trusted platform to rank for competitive search terms that would be impossible for a new site to achieve.

This article says nothing about why it may be a problem. In fact I don’t even see a problem myself, its just software on a software store. I really don’t think the developer thought through the whole reputation SEO “exploitation” thing and just wanted their software available in all the places.
Maybe this posts author has some sort of vendetta against the industry in question? It’s not like that software’s only purpose is to download those videos, they exist to download all videos.

Lol this cracks me up. Reminds me of this YT video where the content creator compared the views and ROI when posting her coding tutorials on YT and PH. Same video, nothing NSFW and the ROI was something like 10x on PH.

Seeing this post reminds me of the extension stores for VS Code and Chrome. Openness is great, but not all developers necessarily have good intentions.
