SkiaSharp 4.0 Preview 1 has been released, bringing over two years of upstream Skia engine improvements (milestone 147) to .NET developers. Key updates include sharper image downscaling, automatic photo orientation via Exif metadata, improved large image handling, more accurate color transfer functions, and security hardening. New capabilities include variable font support with full OpenType axis control, color font palettes, the new immutable SKPathBuilder API, and new native build targets for Linux Bionic and Tizen 64-bit. Uno Platform is joining as a co-maintainer alongside Microsoft's .NET team, having already contributed major engine upgrades, variable font APIs, and an interactive WebAssembly gallery. A live event celebrating the release is scheduled for June 30th.
