Web Vitals is an initiative by Google to provide unified guidance for quality signals that are essential to delivering a great user experience on the web. Google has provided a number of tools over the years to measure and report on performance. The current set for 2020 focuses on three aspects of the user experience— loading, interactivity, and visual stability.

<p>I find myself going down rabbit holes almost every day.  There is so much new to learn if you’re a developer who is as excited about technology today as he was when his high school acquired an Apple II computer in 1982 and he discovered the joy of the Basic programming language.  And yet - today is the first time I come across web vitals - which seems almost impossible considering that I’ve been in the industry for nearly thirty years - although only a relatively small portion of that spent doing web development.  So many shiny new toys all the time in our industry…</p>
