Zed is updating its Terms of Service and Privacy Policy effective March 2, 2026, to reflect the editor's growth into AI features, subscriptions, and enterprise use. Core privacy commitments remain unchanged: no data selling, no AI training on user code without opt-in, and Zero Data Retention agreements with AI providers (Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, xAI). Key changes include clearer billing terms for subscription and usage-based AI pricing, a new binding arbitration clause with a 30-day opt-out window, a jurisdiction shift from California to Delaware, a new Cookie Policy with a consent banner, and universal data access/deletion rights for all users. Telemetry remains configurable, and users own their AI-generated output.
