Microsoft's Control Panel redesign for Windows 11 has been delayed primarily because printer devices and drivers risk breaking during the migration. A partner director of design at Microsoft revealed this on X. While several features like clock settings, mouse cursor blink rate, and date formatting have already moved to the Settings app, key legacy tools like Device Manager and file explorer options remain in Control Panel. Microsoft is building tooling to modernize legacy dialogs across Windows 11, but no timeline has been given for when the full redesign will ship.
