Waymo secured $16 billion in funding led by Dragoneer, DST Global, and Sequoia Capital, valuing the autonomous vehicle company at $126 billion. The company plans to expand its robotaxi service to over 20 new cities in 2026, including London and Tokyo. Currently operating in six U.S. metropolitan areas, Waymo provides 400,000 rides weekly and completed 15 million rides in 2025. The expansion comes amid increased regulatory scrutiny, with NHTSA and NTSB investigating incidents involving Waymo vehicles near schools, including one where a robotaxi struck a child at low speed.
