Vox bets on hybrid connectivity

Vox's head of wireless, Theo van Zyl, argues that hybrid connectivity combining fibre, fixed-wireless, LTE, and LEO satellite services should be the default approach for South African businesses. Fibre alone is vulnerable to downtime, and wireless technologies serve as essential failover. Vox is positioning itself as a one-stop shop by partnering with fibre operators, wireless providers, and satellite operators. LEO satellites are expected to reshape the competitive landscape, especially in underserved regions. Dynamic spectrum in the 3.8-4.2GHz range opens opportunities for WISPs, though affordability and equipment availability remain key challenges for mass adoption.
