Wispr Flow, a Bay Area AI voice input startup, is aggressively expanding in India after identifying it as its fastest-growing and second-largest market. The company launched Hinglish (Hindi-English hybrid) voice support and an Android app, driving growth from roughly 60% to 100% month-over-month. Despite India accounting for 14% of global downloads, it contributes only 2% of in-app revenue, highlighting the monetization gap. Wispr Flow introduced India-specific pricing at ₹320/month and aims to eventually lower costs to ₹10–20/month to reach non-urban users. The startup plans to grow its India team to 30 employees and expand multilingual support to additional Indian languages over the next 12 months. Experts note that linguistic complexity, accent variation, and contextual friction remain significant barriers to mainstream voice AI adoption in India.
