Visual Studio Code 1.115 introduces a preview companion app called VS Code Agents, optimized for agent-native development. It lets developers run multiple agent sessions in parallel across multiple repos, track progress, view diffs inline, leave feedback, and create pull requests without leaving the app. Custom instructions, MCP servers, hooks, plugins, and VS Code themes all work within the Agents app. The release also adds a new send_to_terminal tool enabling agents to interact with background terminals, and a new experimental setting for automatic background terminal notifications. Additionally, the Playwright tool gains improved support for long-running scripts. VS Code updates now ship weekly rather than monthly.
