Vercel released json-render, an open source tool that enables AI to generate user interfaces on the fly. Developers define guardrails (components, actions, data bindings) while end users describe what they want in natural language. The AI generates JSON and progressively renders it. This experimental technology bypasses traditional UI development by letting AI compose interfaces from predefined components while maintaining brand consistency. Vercel CEO Guillermo Rauch advises frontend developers to focus on shipping agents and learning how models work, as the role shifts from building UIs to defining agentic behavior and context engineering. The tool is part of Vercel's broader AI cloud strategy, which includes the AI SDK, AI gateway, and Vercel Sandbox for running agents in isolated environments.
