The newsletter speculates that Vercel, which has cash, a vested interest in Tailwind, and a track record of acquiring OSS projects like Svelte and Turborepo, is a likely acquirer. Vercel is gonna buy Tailwind (probably)

I’m so sick of Vercel buying everything.

One day, I wanted to donate Tailwind around 10$ (I am a dev from a third-world country, so don’t say it’s very little, it’s not little here). I went to their website and found out, to my shock, that the minimum donation one can make is 100$…
I was struck by that. I am pretty sure there are a lot of devs like me who wanted to donate them but couldn’t for this reason.
In my opinion, if they struggle with money, they should have made a paid product (all the future versions of it, yes). Even if the price was 5$ per month, they would become millionaires.

As much as I’d like for tailwind devs to make money again, please not them

Dunno why are you shitting on vercel so much, our workloads are much faster using it, I can send message on telegram spin a feat and preview it straight from my phone I dont even have to go to office

The current web uses so much Tailwind everywhere. And the LLMs are actually pretty good at writing Tailwind.
Vercel doesn’t need to buy everything, but big tech does need to pay up for the open source it uses.
