Nice explanation! Long story short, useEffect is great for non-blocking operations that don’t need to run synchronously with DOM updates. Some use cases for this are fetching data from APIs, subscribing or unsubscribing from events and etc. On the other hand, useLayoutEffect is for useful operations that need to run before the browser paints, such as reading and modifying the DOM immediately after render. An example use case for this is if you need to measure the size or position of a DOM element and then update the state based on those measurements.

Very nice, I think I’ll start using useLayoutEffect since I’m having trouble because when fetching data from api and it usually tells me that the state data is undefined bacause its rendering first before fetching in useEffect.
