Updates have been made to metafield access controls on Shopify. These updates allow apps to view the fields of metafield definitions they have access to but do not own. The updates also affect the admin and storefront fields of access grants, returning values in more cases. The definitions that were created with a storefront access of NONE will now return NONE instead of null. Furthermore, the admin access control can now be set to PUBLIC_READ_WRITE.
