GitHub is updating its data usage policy for Copilot Free, Pro, and Pro+ users. Starting April 24, interaction data including inputs, outputs, code snippets, and context will be used to train and improve GitHub's AI models by default. Users can opt out via Privacy settings. Copilot Business and Enterprise users are unaffected. The collected data may be shared with Microsoft but not third-party AI providers. GitHub cites improved model performance from using Microsoft employee interaction data as justification for the change.
