Unionized employees at Build A Rocket Boy (BARB), represented by IWGB Game Workers Union, have filed legal proceedings against the studio over alleged data privacy violations. The studio installed surveillance software called Teramind on employee devices without consent, tracking keystrokes, screen activity, and microphone audio. After 40 workers signed a collective grievance, Teramind was removed in March, but management has refused to disclose what data was collected or why the software was installed. Separately, union members filed legal claims on April 12 over an alleged mishandled redundancy process last summer that saw around 300 employees laid off, with allegations including unlawful blacklisting and failure to engage in collective consultations. A union member with 20 years of industry experience described BARB's culture as one of the worst he has encountered.
