Unionized video game workers from the Communications Workers of America (CWA) delivered a pointed message to game industry executives at GDC Festival of Gaming 2026. UVW-CWA members called out leadership over mass layoffs, studio closures, and lavish executive spending, urging execs to voluntarily share power or face being forced to do so. Members emphasized the human cost of layoffs and criticized the disconnect between boardroom decisions and workers' lives. The message came as EA, Embracer, and Ubisoft announced fresh rounds of layoffs during the same week.
