Underscore Its Unimportance

A code review story about a mysterious unused line in C#: `_ = len / 8.0f;`. The underscore convention is used to suppress linter warnings about unused variables, but the line itself has no discernible purpose — no one knows why the division by 8.0f was there or what it was meant to do. It was eventually removed, but had lingered in the codebase for a long time.
