The UK Financial Services Security Hackathon, hosted by Lloyds Banking Group, Hack The Box, and Google Cloud Security, brought together 33 teams from 16 organisations over two days (April 27-28). Teams competed across web exploitation, digital forensics, OSINT, cryptography, and payment systems security. The winning team, 'Nine Lives With Zero Days', comprised an ML engineer and a senior penetration tester, highlighting the convergence of AI and cybersecurity skills. A key theme was that while AI accelerates certain tasks, human judgment and hands-on experience remain essential for real-world cyber defence in the financial sector.
