Canonical and Nutanix have expanded their partnership to bring Ubuntu Pro to Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP) instances running on bare metal, including the newly announced NKP Metal solution. Ubuntu Pro provides up to 15 years of security patching, compliance hardening tools (FIPS 140, STIG), live kernel patching via Canonical Livepatch, and support for air-gapped environments. The integration covers both control and worker nodes, enabling a consistent security posture across entire clusters. Early access is available now, with general availability planned for later in 2026. Canonical's Chisel tool is also highlighted for building ultra-minimal container images to further reduce attack surface on bare-metal Nutanix deployments.
