A benchmark comparison of NVIDIA Linux gaming performance between Ubuntu 25.10 and the upcoming Ubuntu 26.04 LTS (with GNOME 50). Testing was conducted on an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D system using both RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 GPUs, with the same NVIDIA 590.48.01 driver on both releases. The focus is on performance differences attributable to the newer Linux kernel and GNOME 50 desktop stack, including Mutter 50's NVIDIA optimizations, across native and Proton-based Linux games.
