A performance benchmarking comparison between Ubuntu 25.10 and the near-final Ubuntu 26.04 LTS running on an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X (Zen 5) desktop. Ubuntu 26.04 ships with the Linux 7.0 kernel (pre-stable), GNOME 50, Python 3.14, OpenJDK 25, and Mesa 26.0, while 25.10 used Linux 6.17, GNOME 49, and GCC 15.2. The test system includes 128GB DDR5, a 4TB NVMe SSD, and an NVIDIA RTX 5080. Results show notable performance gains in Ubuntu 26.04 over 25.10 on this AMD Ryzen 9000 series hardware.
