Ubuntu 26.04 LTS's sudo-rs (the Rust-based sudo replacement) has received a new quality-of-life update: pressing the Tab key during password entry toggles between visible asterisk feedback and silent 'no-echo' mode. This provides an in-between option for users who want the default asterisk visibility but occasionally need to hide their input from onlookers, without editing any config files. The feature was designed as an 'escape hatch' for security-conscious users, and the patch ensures Tab is not interpreted as a password character.
