Ubisoft has reportedly cancelled its life simulator project codenamed Alterra, an Animal Crossing-inspired voxel creation game that had been in development at Ubisoft Montréal for about 18 months. Staff were notified on April 22 and are being reassigned to other projects with no layoffs. The cancellation is part of Ubisoft's broader portfolio management strategy, which has also seen three other games cancelled earlier this year, studio closures, and layoffs at Red Storm Entertainment as the company pursues €200 million in cost savings.
