Microsoft has announced a native port of the TypeScript type checker, known as TypeScript Go. This is a significant development in web development, promising a performance improvement of around 10 times compared to the current TypeScript checker. The porting project retained most of the original TypeScript code structure, ensuring minimal disruption for developers. Although not yet feature-complete, the new type checker shows substantial performance improvements in initial tests and will eventually integrate with VS Code and other editors. This move aligns with an emerging trend of improving existing tools rather than creating new ones.
