Databricks partnered pro bono with Global Orphan (GO) Project through its 'Databricks for Good' initiative to modernize the nonprofit's data infrastructure. Over three months, two Delivery Solutions Architects implemented a medallion architecture (bronze/silver/gold) on the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform, consolidating data from AWS RDS MySQL and third-party APIs. The project delivered a centralized KPI dashboard using Unity Catalog governance and Spark Declarative Pipelines, replacing manual spreadsheet-based reporting. A second workstream used Databricks AI Functions to auto-generate personalized, data-driven donor newsletters at scale. GO Project now has near real-time visibility into operations across 1,600+ partner agencies and can produce targeted stakeholder communications without manual data extraction. Future plans include using Agent Bricks for modular, domain-specific newsletter generation.
