The first-ever openSUSE America Summit took place April 29 through May 1 in Barranquilla, Colombia, hosted at Universidad Libre with 321 attendees including developers, students, and IT professionals from across the globe. Topics covered ranged from cybersecurity (including a capture-the-flag competition), Linux migration, Netfilter/nftables, Kubernetes drift detection with ArgoCD, machine learning workflows, open-source data platforms, mesh networking for rural areas, and AI's impact on coding and packaging. Organized with support from SUSE, the Geeko Foundation, and local communities, the event sparked discussions about making the summit a recurring, traveling event across the Americas modeled after the openSUSE.Asia Summit.
