Trace, a Y Combinator 2025 summer cohort startup, has raised $3M in seed funding to tackle slow AI agent adoption in enterprises. The London-based company builds knowledge graphs from a company's existing tools (email, Slack, Airtable) to give AI agents the context they need to operate effectively. Users can submit high-level tasks and Trace generates step-by-step workflows, delegating subtasks to AI agents or human workers with the right contextual data. The founders argue the industry is shifting from prompt engineering to context engineering, and Trace aims to be the infrastructure layer for AI-first companies. Competition includes Anthropic's enterprise agent plugins and native agents from tools like Atlassian's Jira.
