Seven commonly used Linux commands have been deprecated and replaced with modern alternatives. The replacements include systemd timers instead of cron for scheduling tasks, ip instead of ifconfig for network configuration, dig instead of nslookup for DNS queries, fastfetch instead of neofetch for system information display, rsync instead of scp for file transfers, ss instead of netstat for network statistics, and type instead of which for locating commands. These newer tools offer better features, improved security, active maintenance, and more reliable functionality than their predecessors.
