Arcee AI, a 30-person startup, released Trinity, a 400B parameter open-source foundation model under Apache license. Built in six months for $20 million using 2,048 Nvidia Blackwell B300 GPUs, Trinity benchmarks competitively against Meta's Llama 4 Maverick 400B in coding, math, and reasoning tasks. The company positions Trinity as a permanently open alternative to models with restrictive licenses, targeting developers and enterprises concerned about relying on Chinese models or Meta's potentially changing licensing terms. While currently text-only, vision and speech capabilities are in development.
