TikTok launches a data portability API ahead of Europe's DMA regulatory deadline to comply with new obligations and restrictions. The API allows third-party developers to build conduits for data to travel from TikTok to their own apps, addressing the limitation of static data processes. The API is available globally but applicable only to users in the European Economic Area (EEA). TikTok is also updating its 'download your data' tool to allow users to choose specific categories of data to download.
