TIGA data shows 46% of UK games studios focus on PC as their primary platform, with 56% of start-ups also targeting PC between May 2024 and September 2025. Mobile game development declined, with studios working on mobile dropping from 33% to 31.6% and their share of industry jobs falling from 19% to 17.9%. Console development grew its share of industry jobs from 47.2% to 50%. These platform shifts come amid the UK games sector's most severe downturn on record, with a net loss of 1,537 development jobs representing a 4.5% annualised decline after 14 years of uninterrupted growth.
