I do a lot of downloading, pictures, documents, videos, assets, archives. Most times I let them pile up in the downloads folder, after a month or so, its jam packed with random stuff that I can’t for the life of me sort out because I have “more important stuff to do”. This led me to think of the possibilities that there could be a way to organize everything within a second but how?
I recall python starts off in the CLI and it does have modules that could easily manage files. Building the app was surely going to take some R&amp;D but if I don’t have time to clean one folder, do I have time to build and app to clean that folder?
With a simple prompt I got Gemini to build me a basic logic base for the app and added on the file types, naming conventions for sorted files and folders. All you have to do is run it in your text editor hoping you have python installed, then select your directory.
