Three MIT rising seniors — Deeksha Kumaresh (biological engineering), Anna Liu (chemistry), and Charlotte Myers (physics and astronomy) — have been named 2026 Barry Goldwater Scholars. Selected from approximately 5,000 nominees nationwide, only 454 students received the award. Kumaresh researches polymeric nanomaterials at the Hammond Lab, Liu develops new catalysts in the Radosevich Group, and Myers applies machine learning to galactic structure modeling and studies dark matter at the Kavli Institute. All three plan to pursue PhDs and research careers in their respective fields.
