Threads head Connor Hayes previewed a redesigned web interface featuring a single-feed layout with a left-side navigation sidebar, shortcuts to saved posts and insights, and direct messages coming to desktop for the first time. DMs, which launched on mobile in June 2025, will roll out on web over the coming weeks with one-on-one chats, group conversations up to 50 people, emoji reactions, and media sharing. The redesign coincides with Threads surpassing 450 million monthly active users and Meta's global advertising rollout on the platform, with analysts projecting $11.3 billion in Threads ad revenue by 2026. The web improvements are aimed at retaining power users and increasing session depth, which also supports advertiser value on desktop.
