The MMO 'Duet Night Abyss' suffered a serious supply chain attack where its official game launcher was compromised to distribute Umbreal Stealer, an open-source info-stealing malware delivered via VBScript dropper. The malware could steal Discord tokens, Roblox/Minecraft credentials, cryptocurrency, webcam images, screenshots, and IP addresses, while also attempting to disable antivirus tools. Notably, this was the second time the game's CDN was compromised — an ethical hacker had exploited the same vulnerability 22 days earlier. Windows Defender detected and blocked the payload for most users, but those who had disabled it were at serious risk. The game developer's initial response downplayed the incident as 'login issues' before eventually admitting a cybersecurity breach. The post strongly recommends uninstalling the game and warns against trusting the developer with kernel-level or admin-level system access.
