The Alta Labs Route10 is a $199 10-gigabit router with two SFP+ ports, four 2.5GbE ports (two with PoE+), and hardware acceleration. Performance testing shows it can handle bidirectional 10Gbps traffic with basic workloads, achieving 18-19Gbps throughput. With IDS/IPS security features enabled using Suricata, throughput drops below 10Gbps. The device uses a Qualcomm IPQ9570 chip, consumes about 6 watts at idle, and requires cloud-based web management through an Alta Labs account with no local management option. Build quality features a plastic top with metal bottom for passive cooling.
