This camera made it to space

NASA's Artemis 2 mission uses consumer-grade cameras including two Nikon D5 DSLRs (2016, ~$800 used), four GoPros mounted externally, and an iPhone 17 Pro Max — the first consumer smartphone certified for deep space. The iPhone is locked down to camera-only mode with no internet or Bluetooth. Photos and video are transmitted back to Earth via a laser communication system capable of 260 Mbps, roughly 100x faster than the radio systems used during Apollo, enabling 4K video from 250,000 miles away.
