Building software is much harder than it appears, especially with the rise of no-code and AI programming tools. These tools promise quick results but often fail when it comes to developing functional applications. Real progress in software development requires understanding the underlying technologies and overcoming challenges rather than relying on simplistic tools. The more difficult the learning process, the better you become as a developer. As AI evolves, its impact on developer productivity and job roles, especially for junior developers, will be significant, potentially affecting salaries and job demand.

They lied to you. Building software is really hard.

Whenever someone tells me that building software is easy I usually reply that building bad software is easy. Building good software is very hard.

It’s easy to get started on a project and much more difficult to make it robust, easy to use, able to scale, configurable to all use cases, reliable, etc. Take seemingly simple yet essential features like logging in; the fact that there exist companies whose core competency is authentication proves that it’s no trivial feat. There are so many companies that manufacture intermediate software goods that make assembly of finished sites and apps easier but amalgamating these still takes a lot of effort to do well and it’s likely you’ll need to implement whatever makes your software unique yourself.

This is an inevitable truth even a button requires more than 3 variables in order to function as per expectations of a non programmer guy
