These VA Tech scientists are building a better fog harp

Virginia Tech scientists have developed an improved fog harp design for water harvesting that addresses clogging issues in traditional mesh-based systems. The device uses vertical wires with periodic horizontal elements, inspired by how California redwoods collect water from fog. Unlike conventional mesh harvesters that suffer from efficiency loss due to clogging when filaments are made smaller, the fog harp design maintains better water collection performance in arid coastal regions.
