Switching from Apple to Linux, Neovim, and Framework felt challenging initially but ultimately liberating. While the author believes Linux might be ideal for developers, they acknowledge that personal preferences, resistance to change, and practical needs are valid reasons to stick with Apple. Advocacy for such transitions should be modest as pushing too hard can generate resentment.

The Year on Linux

My reasons for not switching:

<li>I already have a MacBook</li>
<li>my company buys updated units every few years</li>
<li>IntellIJ has poor support on Linux and I absolutely can’t be efficient without it</li>
<li>I have way too many iDevices in my house and everything talks to everything else without a hiccup (although I could argue that the load time for Screen Time of my kids’ devices takes longer than it should)</li>
</ul>

Corporate overreach and exploitation is a good reason to at least get off Windows.

Got tired of BSOD
Took me a hour to install archlinux and setup stuff fine…
only to reboot and see no changes were saved, the partition was empty
everything i downloaded and the time i wasted down the drain

I like “something that gets harder with age” part. I feel that even superstars with brilliant achievements have the same worries and struggles as us.
