Ruby Native is a new tool that lets Rails developers ship iOS apps to the App Store without ever touching Xcode or writing Swift. By adding a gem and writing a YAML config file, developers can define their app's name, colors, and tabs, then preview it live on an iPhone via QR code in about ten minutes. The tool handles code signing, builds, and App Store submission in the cloud, supporting any Rails frontend (Hotwire, React, Inertia, ERB). Built from nine years of repeating the same iOS setup work across 25+ client apps, it aims to remove the biggest pain points for Rails developers wanting a native mobile presence. Public launch is planned for April 1.
