Agentic AI represents an evolution from simple AI workflows to autonomous systems capable of reasoning, planning, and acting independently. Unlike traditional AI workflows where humans make decisions, AI agents can autonomously handle complex tasks by connecting to various tools and services. Single specialized agents have limited scope, leading to the need for multi-agent systems with orchestrator agents that coordinate specialized agents. Various architectural patterns exist including functional decomposition with central orchestrators, hierarchical structures, blackboard architecture, contract-based systems, and cognitive architecture inspired by human cognition.
