Thanks to Nexmon and fresh Kali packages, onboard wireless is ready for monitor mode and injection (again!).
Kali Linux users on Raspberry Pi now have an improved and more integrated way to use the onboard Wi-Fi interface for wireless assessments. While the Nexmon project has long made this technically possible, our support in Kali has recently been refined.

Kali Linux 2025.1 introduces improved Nexmon support for Raspberry Pi devices, enabling onboard Wi-Fi interfaces to perform monitor mode and packet injection without external USB adapters. The update includes new DKMS-based packages that work with the 6.12 kernel and support multiple Raspberry Pi models including the Pi 5. Users can now install brcmfmac-nexmon-dkms and firmware-nexmon packages to enable wireless penetration testing capabilities directly through the built-in Broadcom Wi-Fi chipsets.
