Understanding where to use what is another important decision. For every project this kind of structure may not be needed as well.

You can also scan the issues for any low-hanging fruit, such as documentation/example gaps. Never fear. The worst that can happen is that your commit is rejected and you learn why.

It is code reviewed by hundreds or even thousands of devs who know what they are doing. It is a no brainer.

Very good advice. Imagine if half the users of any given tool read its source and contributed back (not with AI slop but from really understanding and testing what they are contributing with).
One challenge is the lower you get in the stack (say, fixing a lib package or a service code) the harder it is to understand what’s happening and the closer you get to needing to know C.
