Tutorials on how to use Remote Containers in Visual Studio Code have low completion rates. Laravel PHP project elegantly implements this in their own tutorials to great effect. The idea behind containerized dev environments is that you develop inside of a Docker container. The Remote - Containers extension for VS Code does exactly this.

The problem with tutorials

This article seems self destructive, making the point that “nobody reads” while most of the tutorial is reading. Seems to juggle between focusing on being a tutorial or an article about the problems with tutorials.

I’m not surprised that zoomers need a series of 5 second long TikTok videos to learn from, instead of being able to patiently make their way through a written article.
I actually noticed this at work, those of us who are 30+ read documentation and the younger staff don’t bother because they don’t have the attention span for reading. Then they either implement something they’re unsure of in a not so great way, or claim that what’s being asked is impossible and that something else should be done entirely, when if they just read the manual (e.g. of a graphql library) they would know what to do for proper implementation.
There’s massive value in written instruction and it’s not the author’s fault if people are too impatient or lazy to read it fully.
