GitHub Copilot's Plan mode in VS Code has received significant improvements in the latest release. Key new features include interactive multi-select questions during planning (eliminating the need to type numbered responses), the ability to run multiple concurrent planning sessions, per-agent model selection (separate models for inline chat, plan agent, implement agent, and sub-agents), and automatic handoff from plan mode to agent/implement mode using a different model like GPT-4.5 Codex. A walkthrough demonstrates adding a favorites feature to a wallpaper website using these tools, showing how sub-agents read and analyze the codebase before generating a structured implementation plan.
