the performance overhead is huuuuge!
I personally used WSL for 2 years, and it only gets worse over time. Also, deleting the Ubuntu distro freed 70 GB of disk storage from local drive.
I managed to buy my own laptop and installed Linux on it (hardware, no VM).
Much pleasant, peaceful and performant.
